Montebello Park | St. Catharines, Ontario

Montebello Park is the main park located in downtown St. Catharines, Ontario. The park spans 2.5 hectares and is home to summer concerts and festivals including SCENEfest, Ribfest and the Niagara Craft Beer Festival.

While attending the park for SCENE this past June, we got to experience everything that the park had to offer. Montebello Park was simple to navigate and was very open, despite it’s capacity of 10,000. Regardless of where you wanted to enjoy the main stage from, the park offered ample room for sitting, standing, or sprawling out on the grass, while still providing a great view.

The park pavilion was sanctioned off as a VIP viewing area, which certainly provided the view VIP’s would expect, while also providing great shelter from the sun or potential rain. A band shell in the park, typically used as a smaller stage for the Summer Concert Series, is a great spot for small sets, giveaways, or a great call out spot for major event sponsors.  Food and drink availability and pricing will vary depending on the event, as will the cost of entry.

Getting to the park is easy, as it’s located in the heart of the city. Many concert-goers were able to walk to the event or ride their bikes, while I found ample public parking lots just off of the nearby streets. Event parking was $10, which I justified by being able to park in a patrolled, well-lit lot that was only a few steps from the gates. Although some street parking was available, I do recommend the public lot located at the corner of Queen St and Duke St, with alternate access via Wellington.
